Case Study: Strongness
We love supporting people who support others, so when the team at Strongness, a North-East based charity that supports incredibly worthy causes by doing extremely physical challenges, contacted us about helping us to rebrand them and curate a collection of garments for them to retail, we were always going to say yes.
For the rebrand, we created them a timeless brand mark for the charity, based around a custom upper case S letterform, built around the skeleton of a triangle, the strongest geometric shape, and one that can work and hold it's strength on its own, or it can be stacked together creating an even more unbreakable bond, just like the Strongness family can tackle challenges alone or come together to help each other beat impossible odds.
Once we'd had sign off on the branding, we set to work on the apparel side of things, the first Strongness collection we had the honor to work on was a collection with a horribly sad tale behind it, one of the co-founders of Strongness lost his Uncle and Cousin in 2014 who tragically lost their lives in a snow drift while hiking Mount Evans in Colorado. We created a capsule collection in their memory, with designs inspired by the horrible tragedy and we worked solely with Australian artist Dale Bigeni to give the new Strongness brand a strong visual identity to build on collection upon collection. The plan is for Dale to handle all further artwork but introduce different AnyForty artists to create additional collaborations in each collection. An example of this was the second collection we did for them raising funds for the Nicole Rich foundation, which saw us pull in Newcastle based commercial type artist Ash Willerton to work on pieces that sat seamlessly alongside Dale's.
We're super proud to have curated three collections for the Strongness family now and excited about what's in store for them in the future. Go check them out online here and grab a piece to support great charities or you can also make a donation directly here!

The Strongness custom S icon, built around the skeleton of a triangle replicates well in all forms of manufacturing, from screen printing on garments to embroidery to embossing and usage from large to small

The Bison tee for Strongness first collection, we chose the bison as it's a hardened resident of Colorado. An animal which has gone through many tribulations. Emerging as a symbol of strength & resilience. A perfect example of the McManus family spirit after this tragedy

The Tribe of Good Vibes design is a testament to the positivity & togetherness shown by the McManus family, friends & volunteer search and rescue services

The search and rescue helmet is an all-encompassing memorial piece. Paying a direct tribute to the McManus family. While also showing great respect to the Alpine Rescue Team & local volunteer group “Team McManus” who searched for and eventually recovered the bodies of the boys
